Used Honda Accord Car Parts
1976 - Present
When the Honda Accord was introduced in the United States in 1976, it was a god send for the millions of Americans who were experiencing the worst gas shortage in US History. With it’s high mileage rating and low cost, the Honda Accord was an immediate smash hit and put the American Car companies on notice that they needed to get their act together and fast!
Over the years the Honda Accord has been named in Car and Driver's annual “10Best” list 30 times, more than any other vehicle. As far as the US consumer is concerned the Honda Accord is as American as apple pie even though it was manufactured in Japan until 1982 when it became the first foreign vehicle to be manufactured in the United States at Honda’s plant in Marysville, Ohio.
In 2018 the Honda Accord has continued to be a best-seller in the US and it has proven to be a quality vehicle year after year resulting in a production run of more than 10.5 million Accords in the US since production began in Ohio.
Fun Fact: The 1994 Honda Accord has topped the list for most stolen vehicle in the US for years. It's unfortunately easy to break into, and the parts are worth good money.
But how does the Honda Accord stack up against it’s closest competitors, let’s take a look.
|Specification||2018 Honda Accord||2018 Toyota Camry||2018 Hyundai Sonata||Winner|

As you can see from the table, the Honda Accord does not win every category but it leads the pack where it counts. If you use the overall dimensions, horsepower, interior room and trunk volume to determine value then the Honda Accord gives you the biggest bang for the buck.

Honda Accord: The First Generation
In the 1970s, while nearly everyone lined up fretting over gas consumption, automakers like Honda pounced at the opportunity to give the people what they needed: a smaller, eco-friendly, practical car that was good on gas and supported low-emissions.
One of Honda’s most beloved automobile lines, the sporty and reliable Accord was initially available in 1976 as a three-door hatchback. Equipped with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion (CVCC) engine, it was one of the few releases to present quality features for an affordable car, including an AM/FM radio, remote rear hatch release, and a rear defroster, washer, and wiper. Since its inception, this mid-size vehicle has managed to win multiple awards while remaining an affordable and fuel-efficient car.
Generations to Follow
The Accord didn’t stop with the luxurious affordability idea after the first generation. Much of the later improvements were considered impressive in their time. This ranged from including A/C; power locks, steering, and windows; leather seats, and a four-speaker stereo by the early 1980’s. The Accord was also offered in two styles: the coupe and the sedan. The sedan offered a four-door alternative to the coupe and improved to a 1.8-liter engine capable of 72 horsepower. By the mid-1980’s, the sedan offered an SEi version that supported a fuel injection engine which would become the standard by the early 1990’s.
Adhering to an impressive aesthetic quality, the Accord eventually carried a Bose sound system, powered moon roof, retractable headlights, and, for the engine, VTEC technology that altered the camshafts timing and allowed better air flow in the engine at high engine speeds, as well as a newly introduced V6 model. Today, the Accord is capable of producing 270 horsepower with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The difference is drastic when comparing first model with today’s ninth-generation, and watching the Honda evolve. It’s no wonder this car has been a favorite that continues to attract loyal customers for its reliable transportation and great longevity. A lead innovator and example that many other models have imitated, this automobile has clearly earned its impressive and prestigious reputation.
Did You Know?
The first Accord was priced for $3,995 in 1976. We’d say that would be a pretty cheap price tag today. Would you agree?
Honda began U.S. production for Accords at their auto plant in Marysville, Ohio, in 1982. It was the first Japanese owned-plant in the U.S. Since then, Honda has produced over ten million Accords in Ohio.
The Accord name was chosen to advocate a harmonic relationship between society and the car.
The Accord has been featured in over 27 “Top 10 Best Cars” lists, which is nearly twice as many as any other vehicle.

Honda has always been known to produce reliable cars to consumers, and the Accord is no different. In fact, it has been one of Honda's most dependable and best-selling vehicles since the late 1970s when it was first introduced to the small to midsize market. Honda had already seen quite the success with the Civic, but the company knew it needed to expand its horizons with a vehicle that had more room, power and style, yet was still reliable and economical. Luckily, that's exactly what Honda delivered in 1976 when it introduced the Accord, which won the Car of the Year award in its first year and for many subsequent years. It has since been named one of the 10Best cars from Car and Driver Magazine 21 times in 25 years, which is more than any other vehicle.
Over nine generations of models, the Honda Accord has continued to impress with its quality, dependability, fuel efficiency and sleek appearance. In 1976, the first generation Accord was an uncluttered, three-door hatchback, weighing in at roughly 2,000 pounds with 68 horsepower from its 1.6-liter, CVCC 4-cylinder engine, which was produced in Japan. In 1979, a four-door sedan was produced in the United States. Honda began producing the second generation Accord in 1982, which was followed by the 101-horsepower Accord in 1985, available in both the hatched back and sedan, thanks to fuel injection technology. As the cars got larger in size, the third generation was introduced between 1986 and 1989 and the two-door coupe replaced the hatchback. Then, it was the fourth generation that allowed the Accord to officially enter the midsize car market, and it did so with a 2.2 engine that produced 130 horsepower.
The fifth generation introduced expanded interior room and what we all know as VTEC, which is Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control. The sixth generation, which was introduced in 1998, is when the Honda Accord first got its sleek, clean look and really became the car that we see today. It is also when it became the safe car that we know and love today with standard dual front airbags. Continuing to get a little bit larger in size, the seventh generation gets a complete redesign from the inside out. It gets roomier on the inside and offers a much smoother and powerful (240 horses) ride. The eight generation Honda Accord has a much sleeker style the ninth generation is what we see today and is the largest in terms of interiors that we have seen, although the exterior size has been reduced. It offers the most comfortable, fuel-efficient ride and is by far the easiest to drive.
Although the Honda Accord is well-known for its reliability, the vehicles can have their faults. Two of the most common problems Accord owners report having to deal with are vibration when breaking due to warped front brake rotors and power door lock failure due to faulty door lock actuators. Regardless of the Honda Accord OEM parts that you are in the market for, such as front brake rotors or door lock actuators, you can peruse our parts catalog at PartsGeek.com to find the Honda parts that you need to repair or even accessorize your Accord.

About Honda Accord
Honda Accord, as a series of vehicles, has been produced by the renowned Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda Motor Co., Ltd. since 1976. When the first Honda Accord was released in 1976 to Japanese market, it was a 3-door hatchback to replace the Honda 1300. Then since 1989, its 4-door sedan has been one of the best-selling cars in the United States. Countless awards such as 1994 Motor Trend's Import Car of the Year, Car and Driver's 10 Best for 32 years, 2014 Green Car of the Year and so on has proved Honda Accord's strong prowess. Until now, Honda Accord has gone through nine generations.
The eighth generation Honda Accord (2007-2012) made its debut at North American market for the 2008 model year in 2007. In United States, Honda Accord was available in LX, EX, EX-L, EX-L with Navigation, EX-L V6 and EX-L V6 with Navigation for full-size (E-segment) sedan, and EX, EX-L, EX-L with Navigation and EX-L V6 with Navigation for mid-size (D-segment) coupe. It was powered by engines varying from 2.0L inline 4-cylinder engine to 3.5L V6 engine and engines were mated to 5-speed manual or automatic or 6-speed manual transmissions. The ninth generation Honda Accord (2012-present) went on sale in 2012 in United States. And besides the trim levels carried over from previous generation, it adds Sport and Touring trim levels as well as an Accord Plug-in Hybrid. Available powertrains are 2.0L, 2.4L inline 4-cylinder and 3.5L V6 engines and engines are mated to new CVT, 6-speed automatic or manual or 5-speed automatic transmissions.
Honda Accord Common Problems & Maintenance Tips
When Honda Accord reached at about 10,000 mileages, many problems start to find it according to Accord owners. For your Honda Accord's long lifespan, you had better know these:
First, transmission slipping and jerking or complete failure. Honda Accord drivers complained at CarComplaints.com, the car repair statistics site about transmission slipping and jerking while shifting gears. Some even said that the faster they drove the harder Accord shifted. And these symptoms often happen when the Accord reached at about 10,000 miles. If you notice that your Accor is suffering from hard shifting and could hear grinding noises from underneath the vehicle, then transfer case seal, clutch slippage, transmission pan and valve body need a thorough inspection.
Second, engine and braking went wrong. Engine as the heart of a vehicle would experience performance reducing, hard starting, loss of power when acceleration or lower fuel efficiency. And these phenomena just happen to Honda Accord. Generally speaking, when the Check Engine Light in the vehicle is illuminated, the Accord air filter, oi filter, oxygen sensor and valve cover gasket should be checked. As for braking failure in Honda Accord, you should keep a close eye on the brake pad set and brake disc.
Unluckily, a Honda Accord with long life expectancy needs lots of time and energy to be devoted to in maintaining. And electrical auto parts in it also belong to easy-to-go-wear components due to long-term exposure to repeated usage. Door lock actuator, for example, is responsible for locking and unlocking power door so that you can enter in conveniently and prevent from being stolen. It could wear out as accumulation of usage times. So could the power window switch. And cabin air filter, wiper blade and emblem also should be serviced regularly.
