Adoption Promotion For Rescued English and French Bulldogs

Adoption Promotion For Rescued English and French Bulldogs

November 1, 2019 - November 5, 2019 | 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

The Animal Foundation is offering an online promotion to facilitate adoptions of the remaining English and French bulldogs that were rescued from a house fire in the City of North Las Vegas on September 24. The online promotion for the opportunity to adopt one of the rescued dogs, administered by a third-party bidding system, opens at 11:00am PST on November 1. Entry fees may be purchased for $250 each, which is less than the cost of care for each dog during their stay at the shelter and equivalent to the highest adoption fee for any animal at The Animal Foundation. Participants may purchase an unlimited number of entries per household through 5:00pm on November 5, but only one dog per household may be adopted through the online drawing.

The $250 fee to enter the online promotion will serve as the adoption fee for the winners. Spay/neuter, microchip, up-to-date vaccines, a starter bag of food and a voucher good for a complimentary wellness exam at participating veterinary hospitals will all be included.

The cost for entry will also allow non-winners the opportunity to adopt any pet for free from The Animal Foundation beginning November 11, 2019, through March 31, 2020.

Winners will be determined after the online promotion ends on November 5 at 5:00pm and will be notified via email and phone no later than close of business on November 6. All adopters must comply with The Animal Foundation’s adoption process, including an in-person interview and screening. The Animal Foundation reserves the right to disqualify any entry and adoption for any reason, in its sole and absolute discretion. A full refund will be given for any disqualified participant.

“We adopted Louie (Ludwig ‘18) at his 4th birthday and are so happy to be his family!  He has a Staffie sister, Lettie, who he adores and who has taught him so much with her gentle patience.  He has doggie friends at daycamp he sees once a week.  He is the best snuggler ever!  He used to be a resource guarder, but will now bring you his toys for a treat!  He loves our daily walks and meeting people.  He’s a super smart boy who loves learning new things!  Thank you FBRN for picking us to be his family- we love him so much!”

“Abraham (Ham) ’13 just celebrated 8 years with his forever fam. Adopted from North Carolina, he globe-trotted to DC and Hong Kong before retiring in Seattle. Despite being mostly blind and deaf, Ham is thriving in his golden years, especially with his folks now working from home. He loves rotisserie chicken, movie nights, being the little spoon, and taking “walks” (getting carried 3/4 of the way around the block). Thank you FBRN for our goodest good boy! We are so grateful for every day with him.”

“Jovie, April 2019 graduate, iis 100% the light of my every day and absolutely wonderful. She had cherry eye surgery in March right before Covid quarantine and the surgery was a success. A gigantic thank you to FBRN for allowing me to adopt this perfect little nugget.”

15 Rescued Frenchies, Dogs Adopted

There is no cost to apply for a French Bulldog adoption. Adoption fees, however, usually range from $750.00 to $1,000.00 based on the age of the dog.

Under one year of age: $1,000.00 - $1,500.00
1-4 years old: $850.00-$1,000.00
5-8 years old: $750.00-$800.00
9 years old: $550.00-$650.00

The price varies based on the medical needs of each individual Frenchie. All Frenchies are spayed or neutered and have a complete veterinary health check-up including vaccines which are up-to-date before going to their new forever home.

French Bulldogs with ongoing medical needs may have a reduced adoption fee at the discretion of Nevada Frenchie Rescue.

Please complete the How to Adopt a Frenchie form and we will be in contact with you via email or by phone. We generally place all Frenchies near the state of Nevada. We do not ship any Frenchies.

We like to meet the owners personally and we schedule home visits before we place any of our rescue Frenchies. We take great pride in our one-on-one meetings to discuss the Frenchie's personality, care, and daily routine. We take this opportunity to answer any questions you may have about adopting a Frenchie from us.

We currently attend several organized events throughout the year to raise funds for the Nevada Frenchie Rescue. If you would like to foster or help with an event, please contact us. If you like to make a donation to our rescue, please go here:

If you know of a French Bulldog that needs help, is currently at a shelter, or at another rescue in our state, please contact us so that we can facilitate the transfer of the Frenchie to our rescue and start the medical and veterinary care it may need.

We currently have foster homes in Las Vegas and Reno.

STEP ONE
Please complete the Adoption Form located in the drop down menu under "HOW TO ADOPT A FRENCHIE". Mouse over the "HOW TO ADOPT A FRENCHIE" then click the tab for the "ADOPT • SURRENDER FORMS". Complete and return the form via email attachment.

Due to the popularity of this breed, we have potentially good homes waiting before the Frenchie arrives into our rescue from previously completed applications on-file. Once the rescue Frenchie has arrived, we again review the applications on-file looking for the best possible home environment to match that particular Frenchie's needs and personality.

The chosen applicant(s) will be contacted to discuss the next step in the adoption process. We generally place all our rescues in or very near the state of Nevada.

French Bulldog rescues are no different than any other rescue. Dogs arrive into rescues for many reasons, i.e., health, age and behavior. Please research the breed well. Although French Bulldogs might be cute, they do have inherit health complications.

Nevada French Bulldog rescue was established in 2008 to address the issue of French Bulldogs in need in the state of Nevada.
As history has shown, when a dog breed increases in popularity it often increases in population.
Overbreeding and lack of breed knowledge results in dogs with desperate need for love and attention.
It is our compassionate goal to create a happy ending to the story for these French Bulldogs.

WE ADOPTED ANOTHER FRENCHIE!!!!🐶🐶🐶💘

French Bulldog

The French Bulldog is a lively and strong breed that originated in France. It is a very sturdy dog that can serve as a great companion. The French Bulldog, however, could be mistaken for the English Bulldog. Although these two breeds may be similar, they are two different breeds and are merely distant relatives. Discover more about our French Bulldog puppies for sale below!

Breed History

The French Bulldog has its roots in France, just like the name implies. In the 18th and early 19th century, bulldogs were mainly used for blood sports in England. However, in 1835, this practice was abolished and outlawed.

As a result, breeders began to breed bulldogs for the purpose of companionship, rather than sports. To achieve this, they had to cross-breed with terriers in order to create a smaller size of bulldogs.

Within this period, lace workers from Nottingham migrated to France and brought these small bulldogs with them.

The small bulldogs gained popularity in France and soon enough, people began to breed more and import some from England, thereby reducing the number of French Bulldogs in England. They are also known as Bouledogue Francais or Frenchies.

Temperament

The French Bulldog can best be described as fun-loving. It enjoys playing around and as such, is often referred to as “the clown dog”. This breed is also very affectionate, especially towards trusted humans.

It’s high level of affection is what makes it best suited for companionship. It should be noted that French Bulldogs can be very willful and obstinate. They tend to follow their own rules and as such, may be difficult to train. Owners will need to maintain a firm but kind hand when training this breed.

However, beneath their stubborn hide lies a soft heart and a need for companionship or affection. When left alone for too long, they may develop separation anxiety. French Bulldogs are also very territorial and may be aggressive towards cats or other dogs.

Environment

French Bulldogs are best suited to cool environments. They can survive in small, compact apartments as long as it is air-conditioned. This breed of dog is very prone to heat exhaustion. Exposure to extremely hot weather could cause them to overheat and collapse.

Exercise

The French Bulldog does not require much exercise. All it needs is a 15-30-minute exercise session. Owners may take their Frenchies out on a walk or play with them. However, it is important to watch out for signs of exhaustion.

Frenchies usually tire easily because of their propensity for heat exhaustion. Once any sign of exhaustion or fatigue is noticed, the dog should be given time to rest and recuperate.

Grooming

French Bulldogs do not require much grooming. As a matter of fact, only the basic grooming routine is required. Owners ought to brush their Frenchies’ fur weekly or twice a week. They do not shed excessively so they do not require excessive fur grooming.

Owners are equally advised to brush their teeth twice or three times a week in order to maintain oral hygiene and prevent dental problems.  French Bulldogs often experience splitting of the nails. To prevent this, their nails should be trimmed or filed once in a while.

Our French Bulldog puppies for sale come from either USDA licensed commercial breeders or hobby breeders with no more than 5 breeding mothers. USDA licensed commercial breeders account for less than 20% of all breeders in the country.

The unregulated breeders who are selling outside of the USDA regulations and without a license are what we consider to be “Puppy Mills.” We are committed to offering French Bulldog puppies who will grow up to become important members of your family. We only purchase puppies from the very best sources, and we stand behind every puppy we sell.
