1. Press the chrome button on the side to be able to pull out the metal key.

4. Install a new CR2032 3V battery, be sure that the positive side matches the position of the old battery.
5. Replace the components you removed from your key fob, and you’re all set!

The flip key fob is common in many models from 2010 to 2016, along with some others. If this matches your setup, the steps below will teach you how to replace a Chevy key fob battery:

1. Flip the metal key blade and remove the back cover on your key fob.

After nearly 10 years of service, the key fob remote controls for my 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix are only able to open or lock the car doors from a foot or two away.

To open a GM key fob, you'll need either a flathead screwdriver or a thick coin such as a U.S. Quarter.

The original battery is a Panasonic CR2032 3V coin cell.

A replacement CR2032 can be purchased at any auto parts store, a pharmacy such as CVS or online at Amazon.

Replace the old battery with a new one, being sure to place the "+" (top) side of the battery down.

Finish the job by lining up the two halves of the key fob and snap them together.

Then re-attach the key ring and test to see if the new battery vastly increases the distance at which you can lock or unlock the doors and pop open the trunk.
