Monster hunter world update

Monster hunter world update DEFAULT

Months ago, Capcom announced Monster Hunter World: Iceborne’s final content update with plans to permanently reintroduce all event quests and rotate hub-specific festivals every two weeks. That update, entitled , dropped today in advance of Monster Hunter Rise’s release. So, while everyone is gearing up to clear any limited-time modes they might’ve missed over the years, I’ll be in my element: Alone; among the rustling forests, echoing canyons, and frozen prairies of the New World.

Monster Hunter: World was an unexpected gift from my best friend. He’d been playing Capcom’s famed action/RPG franchise for as long as I could remember. I wasn’t particularly impressed by his explanations of the series’ age-old gameplay loop. Even so, I spent half of Monster Hunter: World’s launch day tinkering with its character creator. Soon, my avatar “Spider Face ” was born, and together we spent hundreds of hours conducting field research expeditions and, ultimately, vanquishing the game’s mighty fauna. If I wasn’t compiling the best bow builds or crafting legendary armor sets, I was likely meditating beneath the hanging crystals of the Elder’s Recess or sprinting through flower meadows in the Wildspire Waste.

You see, Monster Hunter: World was the game I desperately needed back in Post-grad depression and a long stretch of unemployment ripped my self-confidence and optimism to shreds. Most days, I couldn’t find the energy to get out of bed, eat, or talk to anyone. Family members suggested therapy and offered emotional support. Still, I had convinced myself that everything was fine. I was just going through a temporary phase. I was sure that, one day, I’d wake up to a miraculous email or phone call from some prominent game studio or publishing house, exhale, and feel like I had value again. Of course, that never happened because I was too defeated to apply anywhere. Eventually, I decided that job-searching wasn’t worth the trouble because I wasn’t good enough. During the waking hours of each day, these dark thoughts tormented me, and so sleep became a lifeline.

There’s nothing quite like preparing for a momentous battle in Monster Hunter: World. You equip items with skills that complement your specific playstyle, craft throwables and consumables from collected ingredients, and then, like any savvy hunter, grab a meal at the canteen for status buffs and game-changing perks. Despite being an archer, I loved positioning Spider Face at the frontline so we could lead the charge and deal devastating damage up close. Luckily, amid the various biomes of the New World, the fears and self-doubts that echoed in my mind were nonexistent. I was too busy drawing Tempered Kushala Daora’s attention so that my squad could heal and place bombs or traps. Whenever I let that final arrow fly and watched each beast – likely mid-jump – fall back to the earth in slow motion, I felt so accomplished. For just a few seconds, the win screen in a video game meant everything to me.

One year (and in-game hours) later, I was a high-level hunter showing newcomers the ropes. I also exhausted Monster Hunter: World’s end-game content by grinding each tempered elder dragon for better bows and gear. More importantly, I was freely talking and goofing off with friends. Life was good. Somewhere between the handler’s constant ruminations, the Bazelgeuse’s disorienting airstrikes, and each mission’s victory fanfare, I found small reasons to be happy again. Mastering the bow class, handily navigating every labyrinthine environment, and meticulously preparing for monster encounters paralleled my mission to overcome depression and become productive. Even when I no longer needed Monster Hunter: World to feel courageous or important, I carried its emotional impact with me to job fairs and interviews.

By the time Iceborne launched during the final quarter of , my monster-hunting tenure as Spider Face, the battle-hardened marksman, had already come to an end. Nevertheless, I dove into the expansion to see its new locales and get trampled by its dangerous monsters. Traveling to the gathering hub and watching dozens of hunters – amateurs and veterans alike – set out on quests together brought a smile to my face. It was nice to know that large-scale events were frequent, and a dedicated fanbase still existed.

Monster Hunter: World will endure, but Version is a sad reminder that this is the end of post-launch content. Monster Hunter Rise is just around the corner and enticing as ever. As I get reacquainted with Monster Hunter: World’s UI and attempt to fight monsters from older updates, I can’t help but feel as if a bittersweet farewell is in order. Yes, the online servers will still be around. And my elder dragon nemesis, Kirin, will forever wander the reefs of the Coral Highlands, waiting for me to notch an arrow and strike, but things are different. I’m different. Of course, there are times when I feel low, unsure of myself and my place in the world, but I’ve learned how to bounce back – and my experiences in the New World played a part in that.

I’m choosing to say goodbye to Monster Hunter: World because it feels like the right time. Through perseverance and a lot of wishful thinking, I’m attending my dream grad school while writing about the games that have molded me into the person I am today. Sure, I don’t need to be Spider Face to feel strong, but maybe logging back in every now and then – for nostalgia’s sake – couldn’t hurt.

While players shouldn&#;t expect any new major piece of content for Monster Hunter World, that doesn&#;t mean Capcom won&#;t continuously tweak and improve the game. Speaking of which, the developers have released the Monster Hunter World Iceborne update patch today for consoles!

Players will see this as MHWorld Iceborne update on PS4, and MHWorld Iceborne update on the Xbox One.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne Update Patch Notes:

Bug Fixes and Balance Adjustments

Base/Facility

  • We&#;ve fixed an issue from Ver. / in which delivery requests would disappear from the list at the Resource Center when playing with your console in offline mode, preventing you from being able to complete the request.

If you have experienced this bug, playing in online mode will restore the requests to your list.
Once you have applied Ver. / , delivery requests will no longer disappear even in offline mode.

We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Yep, that&#;s about it, which is to be expected given a new game in the series has been announced in Monster Hunter Rise for the Nintendo Switch. That said, Monster Hunter World Iceborne players should expect more limited time events to make their way throughout the year even if we don&#;t get any new monsters to slay.

If you spot any gameplay-related changes not mentioned above, let us know down in the comments below.

Capcom lays out Monster Hunter World's future following final content update

Back in October, Capcom released Monster Hunter World's final content update, marking the end of two years' post-launch support, spanning both the core game and Iceborne expansion. Now, however, the developer has revealed what fans can expect from the game here on out.

In a new tweet on the official Monster Hunter Twitter feed, Capcom explained it will be launching a new Monster Hunter World: Iceborne update, known as version , in early December. This will adjust the Safi'jiiva Red Dragon Siege battle so it properly scales for one or two Hunters, but more notably sees Monster Hunter World's wealth of limited-time content being folded into the game on a more permanent basis.

Capcom says players will be able to access "virtually all" event quests, and that its seasonal Astera/Seliana Festivals will rotate every two weeks.

This content is hosted on an external platform, which will only display it if you accept targeting cookies. Please enable cookies to view.

That makes for a total of five seasonal festival pairs - Spring Blossom Fest/Full Bloom Fest, Summer Twilight Fest/Sizzling Spice Fest, Autumn Harvest Fest/Fun Fright Fest, Winter Star Fest/Holiday Joy Fest, Appreciation Fest/Grand Appreciation Fest - meaning the cycle will rotate back around to the start every ten weeks. However, Capcom has also said it'll be possible to meld festival tickets and VIP tickets at the Elder Melder.

As usual, owners of the core game will have access to Astera's various festivals and associated event-specific rewards, while Iceborne owners can also play through Seliana's offerings.

There's no exact release date for December's update just yet, but expect Monster Hunter World's content access changes - which should help keep Hunters occupied until the arrival of Rise on Switch early next year - to come to all platforms simultaneously.

Major Additions and Changes

  • Regarding Guild Cards
Certain poses and expressions cannot be selected when using a full armor set or layered armor related to the Horizon Zero Dawn* or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt collaborations.
If you have these poses or expressions already selected, please note that they will revert back to the default "Crossed Arms" pose and "Expression 1" expression.

Note: Expressions 6, 7, and 20 cannot be used in combination with the Aloy alpha full armor set, Aloy gamma full armor set, or the Aloy layered armor. There are currently no poses that cannot be used related to the Horizon Zero Dawn collaboration. If you have the Aloy alpha full armor set, etc., equipped, please check to see if your guild card settings have been affected.*
    *PS4 only

  • New words have been added to the banned word list for Simplified Chinese. A feature has been added to allow a player or Palico's name to be edited if it contains any word from the banned word list prior to update Ver. (PS4) / Ver. (Xbox One).

If a squad name contains a newly added banned word, the name will be replaced by asterisks, as squad names cannot be changed.

Player-related Bug Fixes

  • A bug has been fixed where a mantle's effect duration would count down if the player had it equipped while in an idle state, or equipped with one of the following weapons drawn: Switch Axe (Sword Mode), Charge Blade (Axe Mode), Light Bowgun, or Heavy Bowgun.
  • PS4 Users:
A bug has been fixed that allowed players to use an item unintentionally. When a weapon is drawn, players can either press Square two times to sheathe their weapon and consume an item, or hold down Square once to do both actions consecutively. However, if the Dash Settings are changed to allow running by using both the L3 and R1 buttons, players could use an item unintentionally if they held down the L3 button while tapping the Square button. This has been fixed so that tapping the Square button will not consume an item if the player is holding down a dash button.

Note: This issue does not occur if Dash Settings are set to allow running using only the R1 button. If your Dash Settings are set to L3, this bug occurred when holding down the R1 button and tapping the Square button, but has also been fixed.

  • Xbox One Users:
A bug has been fixed that allowed players to use an item unintentionally. When a weapon is drawn, players can either press the X button two times to sheathe their weapon and consume an item, or hold down the X button once to do both actions consecutively. However, if the Dash Settings are changed to allow running by using both the LS and RB buttons, players could use an item unintentionally if they held down the LS button while tapping the X button. This has been fixed so that tapping the X button will not consume an item if the player is holding down a dash button.

Note: This issue does not occur if Dash Settings are set to allow running using only the RB button. If your Dash Settings are set to LS, this bug occurred when holding down the RB button and tapping the X button, but has also been fixed.

  • A bug has been fixed that caused the Speed Crawler effect to stop working properly after update Ver. (PS4) / (Xbox One). It is now working as intended.

Dual Blades/Hammer/Hunting Horn/Insect Glaive/Light Bowgun/Heavy Bowgun

  • A bug has been fixed where a neutral attack would be performed when the player executed an attack with the left stick and the attack button while the player character was in the middle of a turning animation.
However, when the player character performs a Charged Upswing or Charged Brutal Upswing when turning while charging power, the design of the attack adds movement to the player motion when the game determines that they are holding the left stick forward. In this situation, players can perform a neutral Charged Upswing if they input the attack fast enough, and is not considered a bug.

Switch Axe

  • A bug has been fixed where the damage bonus from the Assassin's Hood specialized tool only applied to the first attack of the Switch Axe's Left Rising Slash in Sword mode instead of all 3 attacks.

Charge Blade

  • A bug has been fixed where the visual and sound effect of the Condensed Element Slash would play during a Rising Slash when the player releases the Triangle button (Y button on Xbox One) just before Condensed Element Slash finishes charging.

Insect Glaive

  • A bug has been fixed where the Quick Sheath skill would not activate when sheathing the weapon while the Kinsect is flying.

Light Bowgun/Heavy Bowgun

  • A bug has been fixed where ammo listed with a Fast or Normal reload speed would not automatically reload when aiming the Light Bowgun or Heavy Bowgun and pressing Triangle (Y button on Xbox One) just after aiming the weapon. It has been fixed so that it automatically reloads like ammo with a Slow or Very Slow reload speed.

Bug Fixes

  • An update in Ver. (PS4) / Ver. (Xbox One) accidentally changed the effective sound range of some slinger ammo, making it difficult to lure monsters. It has been changed back to the values from before Ver. (PS4) / Ver. (Xbox One).

Slinger ammo that had smaller ranges
    - Scatternut
    - Flash Pod
    - Screamer Pod

Slinger ammo that had larger ranges
    - Brightmoss

  • A bug has been fixed where a monster would be lured to a player's position instead of the location where a slinger was fired during multiplayer quests.
  • A bug has been fixed on the Arch-tempered Kulve Taroth Kjárr weapons with the Critical Status skill, where the abnormal status values weren't corrected properly when a critical hit landed.
  • A bug has been fixed on the Arch-tempered Kulve Taroth Kjárr weapons with the Critical Element skill, where the elemental attacks were corrected using both elemental damage values and abnormal status values when a critical hit landed.
  • A bug has been fixed that allowed those playing the Arch-tempered Kulve Taroth siege to receive siege rewards without breaking its horns, if they were online for over 8 hours and playing the siege at the 8-hour mark.
  • A bug was fixed that caused the Kulve Taroth appraisal weapons to be sorted in a strange manner when sorting equipment via Weapon Tree. This issue affected Long Sword, Sword & Shield, Dual Blades, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Lance, Gunlance, Switch Axe, Charge Blade and Bow.
  • A bug has been fixed that would not let players skip the opening cutscene during the Fury of El Dorado quest because the data containing if players skipped the cutscene wasn't correctly delivered and process if it arrived before the cutscene started playing on someone's machine.
  • A bug has been fixed where the position of the item used to command Palicoes was changed in the item window and saved, but would be different once you went back to the game from the title screen.
  • A bug has been fixed where the player would be discovered by Gastodon when hitting them with slinger ammo or shooting near them, even if the player is wearing the Ghillie Mantle or hiding in the bushes. Please note that even though this bug has been fixed, by design the player will be discovered again if the player is discovered and then hides using the Ghillie Mantle or in the bushes and fires at the Gastodon.
  • This update also includes other minor bug fixes.

Localization-related Bug Fixes

English/French/Italian/German/Spanish/Russian/Brazilian Portuguese/Polish/Arabic

  • In all languages except for Asian languages, the Assassin's Hood specialized tool had two description text variations, but one of them failed to mention that damage to the monster would be increased.

    Previous description text:
Increases movement speed and allows you to hide quicker. Lasts until you deal damage to a monster caught unaware.

    New description text:
Increases movement speed and allows you to hide quicker. Deals big damage to a monster caught unaware, then the effect ends.

Brazilian Portuguese

  • In Polish, the translation for the new Kjárr Hammer "Gyre" weapon differed from existing naming conventions, so it has been fixed.

    Previous name: Młot kjárra: Wir
    New name:Młot kjárra „Uragaan”

Please note that this weapon has not disappeared, merely renamed.

Traditional and Simplified Chinese

  • A mistranslation of "roar" has been fixed in Traditional and Simplified Chinese.

    Previous translation: 咆嘯
    New translation: 咆哮

Note: Both languages use the same translation.

  • A mistranslation of "一括" in both Traditional and Simplified Chinese has been fixed. The previous translation was used in the quest result, item swap and character edit screen and was translated as "one time" instead of "group".

    Previous translation: 一次
    New translation: 全部

Note: Both languages use the same translation.

Traditional Chinese

  • Duplicate guild card titles were found in Traditional Chinese, so a number of translations have been updated.

Japanese -> Previous translation (if applicable)-> New translation
    「人」 → 「人」 → 「中人」
    「マン」 → 「人」
    「ミー」 → 「我」 → 「自我」
    「わたし」 → 「我」
    「テオ」 → 「炎」 → 「炎王」
    「炎」 → 「炎」

If you were using the 「人」「我」「炎」 guild card titles, they may have been changed without notice. Please double check your guild card info to see if you were affected.

  • Several Charge Blade attack names and status translations were fixed to be consistent with each other.

    Previous Translation: 高出力屬性解放斬
    New Translation: 高輸出屬性解放斬

    Previous Translation: 超高出力屬性解放斬
    New Translation: 超高輸出屬性解放斬

    Previous Translation: 高出力狀態
    New Translation: 高輸出狀態

  • The translation for 集會區域櫃檯小姐 has been changed to 集會區域接待員 in all applicable areas of the game.
  • The translation for "add-on content" has been changed.stent with each other.
