Univision Dulce Ambición Spoilers: Shocking twists in Gran Final!

Univision Dulce Ambición spoilers reveal the Gran Final is in the books. This has been one of our favorite novelas, even though there have been a few issues in these last episodes. Let’s take a look at a couple of them, why the ending was so shocking, and why we want more.

Univision Dulce Ambición Spoilers: The trouble with Vivi and Chicle

First, let’s talk about Ricardo “Chicle” Silvino (Sérgio Guizé) and Virgínia “Vivi” Guedes (Paolla Oliveira). We’ve already talked about the problematic nature of their romance and why we think Vivi should have dropped him a long time ago.

However, she’s a character in love and wouldn’t hear of it. Thanks to that, she recently had a shocking betrayal, and it led to a standoff in the finale.

Here’s where we had a problem. Yes, Dulce Ambición spoilers reveal Chicle killed Camilo Boaventura (Lee Taylor). However, Camilo kidnapped Vivi. Her parents are well-aware of the abuse he’s put her through, and Camilo had a gun to Vivi’s head.

This was clear self-defense, so we’re not sure why she felt they had to run still. Especially since Camilo was already called out for leaking stuff to the press by his bosses. It’s part of the reason he left. But here’s where it really gets strange.

Vivi supposedly is off to live a new life under a new name. Presumably, because they don’t want to possibly get caught up in any investigation over Camilo’s death. So, we can’t with her actually going live on her social media to say goodbye to her followers—showing off her newly-dyed hair.

Not to mention, she went on about how she’s going away to live her love and she won’t be “Vivi Guedes” anymore. That won’t stir up a lot of unwanted attention at all…

Univision Dulce Ambición Spoilers: Twist

In other Dulce Ambición spoilers, we’re used to Mexican and Colombian novelas where the bad guys get what’s coming to them. This Brazilian novela went a whole other way.

Sure, a couple of “bad guys” got theirs, like Camilo. However, the only others we can think of that really suffered were people whose sins were minor, like Gilda Miranda (Heloísa Jorge).

Her lie led to her real health issue turning deadly. Plus, Régis Mantovani (Reynaldo Gianecchini) suffered a shocking sudden death, despite him trying to turn his life around and genuinely wanting to devote his life to Missions work.

Meanwhile, Fabiana do Rosário (Nathalia Dill) ran off and is living the assassin life with Rael Matheus (Rafael Queiroz). Agno Aguiar (Malvino Salvador) is also doing well, despite his sins.

He’s even happy with another bad guy, Adão Ramirez Martins (Guilherme Leicam). But we found it an interesting change, and it got better.

Univision Dulce Ambición Spoilers: More, please

In an awesome twist, Josiane “Jos” Sobral Ramirez Matheus (Agatha Moreira) stole the show. When the action jumped ahead several years, she was being released even earlier than she already would have been.

This was thanks to another appeal by Amadeu da Penha Matheus (Marcos Palmeira). She went on about wanting no luxuries and said she was leaving immediately to do missionary work. This redemption was a lie.

She spotted a rich guy at the meeting and wanted him. However, Régis wanted Jos. He also was all for them keeping an eye on each other to make sure the other doesn’t slip and lose the progress they made.

When he proposed to her, she seemed surprised but happy and agreed. However, in a split second she went from eyes closed in a kiss to her eyes popping open as if she’d been possessed or something.

Then she casually shoved Régis to his death and played shocked that he would miss the big trip. But not before she made sure to get her claws into the rich man we’re sure will be another victim at some point.

This is why we want more. The look in the above picture is chilling and we think there’s a lot more to her yet. Plus, we saw Amadeu and Maria de la Paz Sobral Ramirez (Juliana Paes) with a new daughter of around 5 or 6 named Sol.

The final shot of them holding Sol as she looks down gave a strange vibe.  It was almost like they were hinting she’s just as demon-like as her big sister. Which would make sense, given she has the same two parents as Jos. And their families are filled with assassins. We’d love to see what could happen with this new kid in the future.

Univision Dulce Ambición Spoilers: Novela tropes and what’s next

Univision Dulce Ambición spoilers reveal this show keeps bringing the crazy twists. In the latest episode, we also saw one of the novela tropes we just can’t get enough of. Let’s see what happened, plus preview what’s ahead for tonight.

Univision Dulce Ambición Spoilers: Starting over

First, Dulce Ambición spoilers reveal Maria de la Paz Sobral Ramirez (Juliana Paes) managed to get away from her hometown, thanks to the help of a priest. She ended up at the home of Marlene (Suely Franco), who helped connect her with a friend, Linda Guedes (Rosamaria Murtinho).

Linda just happens to know a rich couple who are looking for a maid, so Maria visits Regis and Lyris Mantovani Aguiar’s (Deborah Evelyn) home. Maria hits it off with them, and Lyris hires her. It doesn’t take long for Maria to settle in and get friendly with their car collecting son.

Seriously. She’s probably only there for about a day or two, if that. That’s how fast things move of this show. But it’s not going to be all smooth sailing for her. More on that in a minute.

Univision Dulce Ambición Spoilers: Elsewhere

Meanwhile, let’s talk about what’s going on with the Ramirez family while Maria de la Paz is settling into a new life. The Matheus family didn’t waste time. They kidnapped Fabiana Sobral Ramirez (Maria Clara Baldon), one of the children in the Ramirez family.

Vicente da Penha Matheu (Álamo Facó) was supposed to kill her, but he had a last-second crisis of conscience. So, he dropped her off at a convent and begged one of the nuns to raise the kid. Then, he stole a chicken and killed it so he could get blood on something belonging to the child to “prove” he did his job.

Elsewhere, Zenaide Sobral Ramirez (Maeve Jinkings) and her daughter, Virgínia Sobral Ramirez (Duda Batista) are being sent away. But a slight delay has Zenaide bringing Virginia to play at the beach for a bit before they catch their train.

This was a big mistake. Some of the Matheus family had followed her and shot Zenaide right there on the sand. Luckily for Virginia, she was able to run away. This is where a trope comes in.

Univision Dulce Ambición Spoilers: Fate or chance?

One of our favorite things about some of these shows is the whole role fate and chance seems to play. Dulce Ambición spoilers reveal little Virginia nearly got hit by a car walking alone. She just happens to be seen/helped by a couple desperate to adopt.

Despite Otávio Rocha’s (José de Abreu) objections, Beatriz Rocha Guedes (Natália do Vale) begs to take the child with them. Virginia told them her parents were dead, so why not, right? Yeah. So, they’re currently working with a lawyer on how to take this iffy legal situation and turn it to their advantage. Here’s where the fun part comes in.

Dulce Ambición spoilers reveal they’re actually friends with Linda. This seems like it’ll be an easy connect-the-dot game to reveal who little Virginia really belongs to. Except maybe not.

Dulce Ambición spoilers: Estás embarazada

Like we said, the writers are wasting no time in this show. After another obvious novela hint of dizziness and a fainting spell, we learn Maria la de Paz is pregnant by the still-alive Amadeu da Penha Matheus (Marcos Palmeira).

This doesn’t sit well with Gladys Mantovani (Nathalia Timberg), who thinks it’s improper for an unmarried pregnant woman to work in that house. So, we’re expecting Maria de la Paz to lose her job. Although, we’re questioning the doctor giving the news to her bosses before telling Maria la de Paz herself. Can we say privacy laws? We’re sure there must be some in Brazil, too.

Univision Dulce Ambición Spoilers: Tonight’s episode

As for tonight’s episode, Amadeu will continue to fight for his life, while Maria de la Paz has to confront her new reality. This will involve her finding a way to turn her baking skills into a new job. Because it seems she might just get kicked out of the house for being pregnant.

Meanwhile, we’ll watch her two nieces growing up in very different circumstances. Stay tuned, because a time jump is eventually coming that will bring some crazy situations. Finally, we also noticed a burning building in the promo with Dulce Ramirez (Fernanda Montenegro) standing inside.

As we caught a glimpse of a pistol in her hand, we think their property will be burned down, and this could be the end of abuela.

Juliana Paes is a telenovela queen in Brazil and she is ready to take over the United States with her new role on Dulce Ambición. Univision is set to air the series produced by Globo TV about a strong-willed woman that will inspire viewers. The story about a baker that creates her own empire is the positivity we need during these trying times and Maria de la Paz is set to take our hearts.

What is ‘Dulce Ambición’ about?

Univision is changing things up in their primetime introducing a Brazilian telenovela from Globo. The Spanish-language network had aired biblical series from the South American country but from Globo’s competitor Record. This would mark the first time the leading network airs a production from the No. 1 network in Brazil.

This Brazilian drama features a strong, empowered female lead named María de la Paz (Paes) and a unique antagonist – her daughter Yosiane (Agatha Moreira). María is a baker who becomes a wealthy businesswoman 20 years after she loses the love of her life, Amadeus (Marcos Palmeira), who was shot on their wedding day. She flees her small town to the big city where she finds out she is pregnant.

Twenty years later, her daughter Yosiane despises her mother’s humble origins and starts an alliance with the charming yet cunning Regis (Reynaldo Gianecchini) to steal Maria’s fortune. But he falls in love with María and as the events unfold the unimaginable happens, Amadeus comes back into her life.

Viewers will also be introduced to another riveting story of sisters, Vivi and Fabiana, Maria’s nieces who were separated as kids.  After the incident at the wedding, Amadeus’ father orders Maria’s nieces to be murdered, but they end up miraculously surviving the attempt. Fabiana ends up in a convent and Virginia lives on the streets until she is adopted by a rich couple. Vivi ends up becoming a digital influencer, adding a contemporary tone to a drama that highlights traditional themes of hope and resilience.

Why Maria de la Paz was an inspiration for Juliana Paes

Every time a new series premieres on television, everyone involved in the production hopes that it’s a success. For Paes, it was a big surprise that this Walcyr Carrasco original connected with viewers in such a massive way.

“It was a big surprise in the beginning because it’s a simple story. There was nothing complicated,” Paes told us during a Zoom interview. “It’s a story about a woman struggling to survive alone in a big city. Alone and with the power of will she became one of the biggest business women… she built an empire and along with this she had a daughter.”

The actress said that the way the story was written, “became special for the audience” and has hopes it will connect with viewers in the United States.

Playing Maria de la Paz was something that made Paes make some changes in her life. The character is full of positivity and when it was time she make some decisions she thought about how her fictional character would go about it.

“I was thinking when the job [ended] and when we finished everything, I [had set goals] in my life and [thought] what Maria de la Paz do in my place?” Paes said. “She inspired me because of this mood of hers. She always had a positive way to look at the situation. Even on the worst occasions she always had a different point of view and this really changed me in a very special way.”

Dulce Ambición premieres Monday, August 31 at 10 p.m. ET on Univision. The telenovela has been dubbed into Spanish from the original Portuguese language. However, English-only speakers will be able to follow along with subtitles in English on CC3.

A Dona do Pedaço

Brazilian telenovela by Walcyr Carrasco

A Dona do Pedaço (English title: Sweet Diva[1]) is a Brazilian telenovela produced and broadcast by Globo. It premiered on 20 May 2019, replacing O Sétimo Guardião, and ended on 22 November 2019, replaced by Amor de Mãe. It was written by Walcyr Carrasco, with the collaboration of Márcio Haiduck, Nelson Nadotti and Vinícius Vianna; with the direction of André Barros, Bernardo Sá, Bruno Martins Moraes, Caetano Caruso and Vicente Kubrusly, general direction of Luciano Sabino and artistic direction of Amora Mautner.[2][3]

It stars Juliana Paes, Marcos Palmeira, Agatha Moreira, Paolla Oliveira, Nathalia Dill, Sérgio Guizé, Caio Castro and Reynaldo Gianecchini in the main roles,[4] with special participation of Fernanda Montenegro.[5]

Plot[edit]

In 1999, in the fictional city of Rio Vermelho, the families of vigilantes Ramirez and Matheus lived in war for generations until Maria da Paz (Juliana Paes) and Amadeu (Marcos Palmeira) fell in love and sealed a peace agreement between them. On the wedding day, however, Amadeu is mysteriously shot and the war is restarted, causing Maria to flee to São Paulo without knowing that she is pregnant. The mothers of both clans make a deal and lie to the families that both Maria and Amadeu are dead, but in revenge Amadeu's father orders Maria's nieces to be murdered. Both girls end up miraculously saving themselves: Fabiana ends up in a convent and Virginia lives on the streets until she is adopted by the rich couple Beatriz (Natália do Vale) and Otávio (José de Abreu). Twenty years later, Maria becomes a successful baking entrepreneur thanks to family recipes, although she never gets along with her daughter, Josiane (Agatha Moreira), who criticizes her behavior and appearance. Josiane knows that she needs her mother to achieve the social projection she needs to become an influencer, and devises a plan with the help of Régis (Reynaldo Gianecchini). Maria reunites with Amadeu and discovers the lie that separated them, but they are prevented from resuming their romance when his wife, Gilda (Heloísa Jorge), becomes seriously ill. Devastated, Maria marries Régis, without imagining that he is her daughter's partner in the plan to get her hands on her entire fortune.

Meanwhile Maria's nieces took different paths: Vivi (Paolla Oliveira) became famous on the internet for her charisma, being everything Josiane always dreamed of, and lives an overwhelming romance with Chiclete (Sérgio Guizé) without knowing that he is a hitman sent to execute her, although he also loves her. Fabiana (Nathalia Dill), on the other hand, spent a miserable life in the convent and, upon discovering that Vivi is her sister, decides to ruin her life, nourished by the hatred of the different life opportunities they had. In addition, Fabiana also begins to threaten Otávio and Josiane by discovering their secrets.

Cast[edit]

Guest stars[edit]

Production[edit]

The main inspiration for Walcyr was the telenovela Vale Tudo, written by Gilberto Braga, Aguinaldo Silva and Leonor Bassères in 1988, from where he used the story of the bad-natured daughter who steals from her own mother to try to rise socially in Rio de Janeiro. Another reference was the book Mildred Pierce, written by James Cain in 1941, which tells the story of a mother who suffers with her rebellious daughter.[59] The story of the impossible love between Juliana Paes and Marcos Palmeira and the rivalry between the family was inspired by the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare.[60] In November 2018, Walcyr Carrasco and Amora Mautner traveled to the interior of Espírito Santo to choose where filming would take place, but the leadership gave up using the state without explanation.[61] Although the fictional city of Rio Vermelho is located in the interior of Espírito Santo, filming was done in Rio Grande do Sul, using the cities of Jaguarão, Nova Esperança do Sul, São Gabriel and Jaguari as scenery.[62][63]

Originally the telenovela was titled called Dias Felizes, but it was later changed to A Dona do Pedaço (literal translation The Owner of the Piece), to express the struggle for a better life for the main character.[64] Filming of the first phase of the telenovela began on 27 February 2019 and, on 15 March 2019, filming of the second phase began at Estúdios Globo in Rio de Janeiro.[65]

Cast selection[edit]

Juliana Paes, Paolla Oliveira and Reynaldo Gianecchini were reserved for the main roles of the telenovela in October 2018.[66]Bianca Bin was invited to play the antagonist Josiane, repeating the partnership with the author of O Outro Lado do Paraíso, however the actress could only be present in two days of recording per week, and was replaced by actress Agatha Moreira.[67] Invited to play Silvia, Sheron Menezzes preferred to be part of the cast of the telenovela Bom Sucesso, being replaced by Lucy Ramos.[68]Vera Holtz was cast in the role of Dorothea, but the actress was relocated to star in the series Eu, Vó e a Boi after the departure of Susana Vieira, and was replaced by actress Rosi Campos.

Laura Cardoso was announced in the cast in December 2018 and even gave interviews giving details about the character, however, she was replaced by Betty Faria shortly before filming began, since the management feared that the actress's health instability would hamper the progress of the plot. Later, Laura entered the final episodes of the telenovela in the role of Matilde. Marieta Severo refused the role of Beatriz so she could star in the series Filhas da Eva and was replaced by Natália do Vale. Marina Moschen and Bella Piero were considered to play Joana, but Bruna Hamú ended up being cast for the character. Carol Marra auditioned to play Britney, but lost the role for not fitting the ideal profile, Glamour Garcia stayed with the character. Juliano Cazarré was invited to play the character Rael, but he was already booked to work on Amor de Mãe. Rafael Queiroz took the role.

Review[edit]

Despite the good audience, the soap opera was criticized several times for underestimating the public's intelligence.[72] The Notícias da TV website evaluated the soap opera with a negative critique: "A Dona do Pedaço enshrines prime-time mediocrity (...) Doubtful plots and incoherent characters have already become common in Globo's 9 pm telenovelas, just as the name of Walcyr Carrasco was already synonymous with good comedies, in the times of O Cravo e a Rosa (2000) and Chocolate com Pimenta (2003). The rural and unpretentious scripts were a success. The change of the author to prime time produced a new type of recognition: he even gets an audience, but his quality has not existed for some time.[73]
