The brake lights on your 2017 Nissan Armada illuminate when you hit the brake pedal and help prevent you from being rear ended by the cars behind you. Brake light bulbs grow dimmer over time and eventually burn out. This video shows you how to change the brake lights on your 2017 Nissan Armada. When you replace the brake light bulb on your Armada, be careful not to touch the bulb directly with your fingers - the oil from your skin will cause the area that you touched to burn hotter than the rest of the bulb, which causes the bulb to burn out quicker.
If you are going to replace a bulb in your cluster, it is a good idea to replace all of them. Not only will the lights on your Armada be brighter, you decrease the likelihood you will need to change any of the bulbs again in the near future. A burnt out bulb in the taillight cluster of your Armada is an excuse for a police officer to pull you over. Check your bulbs frequently and change burnt bulbs promptly.

While your primary braking system is used to slow and stop the vehicle during driving, the parking brake is designed to be used, well, when you park. By engaging the parking brake, you are able to take the load off your transmission, avoiding damage and also ensuring that your vehicle is securely parked when on an incline. The Parking Brake light should turn on when you engage the brake, and turn off when the brake is disengaged. However, if the Parking Brake light stays on, there may be one of several problems with the system.
How this system works:
Your parking brake system is a supplemental safety system designed to help secure your car when parking on an incline, as well as to prevent unnecessary loading of the transmission. However, the Parking Brake light is actually a multifunctional indicator. It turns on when you pull the parking brake handle to warn you that the brake is engaged when starting the car.
When you pull the handle, a cable engages the brake, which is located in the rear of the vehicle. There is also a switch that is responsible for sensing the brake being engaged, and then turning on the light in your dash. However, it is also designed to illuminate in several other situations, several of which have little to no connection with the parking brake itself.
Common reasons for this to happen:
Bad Switch: One common reason for the Parking Brake light to stay on is a failing or failed switch. This can be checked easily by jiggling the handle after it is down. If the light turns off (or turns off and then back on), the switch is the most likely culprit and will need to be replaced.
Brake Handle Not Completely Lowered: Another reason for the light to stay on is if the brake handle is not completely lowered. Double-check that the handle is all the way down and that the parking brake is disengaged. Any pressure on the parking brake cable will cause the light to stay on.
Parking Brake Not Disengaging: Sometimes the trouble isn’t with the switch or the cables, but with the parking brake itself. If the brake does not disengage when the handle is lowered, the warning light will stay on in the dash.
Low Brake Fluid: Your Parking Brake light is a multifunction device, and is designed to illuminate if the fluid level in the reservoir drops below a certain point. You may notice the light turning on or off when going around turns as the fluid level changes.
Bad Level Sensor: Your master cylinder is equipped with a brake fluid level sensor. It’s sometimes mounted in the side of the sensor, and is sometimes part of the reservoir cap. If the sensor fails or is going bad, the Parking Brake light will turn on.
Uneven Fluid Pressure: If your car is experiencing uneven brake fluid pressure in one or more lines, it will affect braking performance, and could possibly cause the vehicle to pull to one side or the other during braking. It can also turn on the Parking Brake light in your dash.
What to expect:
A professional mobile mechanic will come to your home or office to investigate the problem. The mechanic will check the parking brake handle, switch, fluid reservoir and other components, and then provide a detailed inspection report that includes the scope and cost of the necessary repairs.
How it's done:
The mechanic will perform a full inspection on your parking brake system, including the handle, switch and the parking brake shoes. The mechanic will also inspect other brake system components, including the reservoir, cap, fluid level sensor and more. It may be necessary to pull brake system codes from the car’s computer as well.
How important is this service?
While your parking brake is not integral to safe driving, it’s an important component on your car. Moreover, a Parking Brake light that will not go out can indicate many different things, including the parking brake not disengaging, a failed parking brake switch, or even low fluid in the master cylinder reservoir. One of our professional mechanics can inspect the system and determine the underlying cause, ensuring that your car is working properly.

What is a brake light?
A brake light is a light. That turns on when you use your brakes. Are we seriously having this discussion? Brake lights are located at the back of your car, near your rear tail lights, and sometimes around your rear windshield as well. Whenever you press on the brakes, the lights turn on, flashing a bright red color behind your car. This serves to let people behind you know that you’re braking, so that they can slow down. Instead of, you know, running into you, which wouldn’t be great. So, how do brake lights work? It’s pretty simple. Like house lights, there’s a switch that turns the lights on and off. Your brake pedal, when resting naturally, presses on the switch to keep it in the off position. Any time your foot presses on the brake pedal, the pressure on the switch is removed, and the switch is no longer held in the off position. This allows the lights to turn on, until you let go of the brake pedal again. And that’s kind of it. As for the light itself, it’s just a basic small light bulb, with standard wiring. But there is a tiny catch. When your brake lights are on, they shine red. Many people mistakenly think this is because the lights themselves are red. Fun fact: The lights are white, like normal lights. The covers are just red, to help project a color that symbolizes stopping. Like all light bulbs, brake lights will burn out and die eventually. When they do, they need to be replaced. It’s pretty easy to replace brake lights, so if you’re bored on a Saturday and want to feel productive, be my guest.

Symptoms of a failing Brake Light
Brake lights don’t turn on
Here’s a news flash: When your brake lights die or burn out, they won’t emit light when you press on the brake pedal. It’s that simple. Now, you won’t really be able to see them, unless you’re hanging out behind your car. So, it’s a good idea to make a habit of checking your lights occasionally by having someone stand around your car while you try them all: headlights, high beams, blinkers, tail lights, and yes, brake lights. Furthermore, when you get your oil changed, the mechanic will usually check your lights to make sure they’re all in working order.
Warning light comes on
Warning lights exist for a reason. And not that reason isn’t to annoy us. Most modern cars have warning lights to let you know when the various lights are no longer working. If your car is flashing the symbol that looks like a light bulb, then you may have a brake light that needs to be fixed. So, fix it.Get a Quote 1-Year | 12,000-Mile Warranty
How urgent is a brake light replacement?
Let me tell you two things about cars that don’t have operational brake lights. First, they don’t provide a brake warning for the cars behind you, meaning you’re way more likely to get rear-ended. And second, cops absolutely love handing out fix-it tickets for brake lights. I mean, they love it.
So, if you like getting rear ended and fix-it tickets, then by all means, leave that brake light unattended. If you’re normal like the rest of us, get it fixed asap.

Your Nissan Armada‘s brake light indicator is there to let you know that there is an issue with the brake system. It is different than the anti-lock brake system, which gets its own ABS warning light. The brake light indicates that there is a problem with the physical braking system itself.
If you are reading this article trying to figure out whether you should drive your vehicle, check the emergency brake first. If it’s engaged, the brake light will stay lit. If the handle isn’t all of the way down, it’ll cause the brake warning light to stay on. Check to make sure that there isn’t the little bit left that it needs to turn the brake light off.
Now if the emergency brake didn’t fix the situation, it’s time to look into what is causing your Armada’s brake warning light to stay on. The brake light is perhaps the most important warning light of all. We do not recommend driving with this light on at all. Doing so may lead to injury when the brakes fail.
Nissan Armada Brake Warning Light Causes
The brake warning light indicates that your Armada has detected that one of its major brake components has failed, typically detected through a loss of pressure. You’ll feel a loss of pressure that manifests itself in the form of a “mushy” brake pedal.
If the brake light is only coming on when you push the brakes, that’s a definite indication that the pressure in the brake system is too low. Either the brakes need bled, or there is a leak.
Brake Fluid Leak
Since you’ve already checked the emergency brake handle, now it’s time to check the master cylinder and see if the brake fluid is low or not. Now if it is low, but not empty, adding more may provide a temporary fix.
If the brake fluid looks like it is all the way out, you’ll need to add more, bleed the brakes, and ideally fix the problem so that you aren’t repeating all of this again. If the brake fluid is leaking out over the brake pads and shoes, it means poor brake performance.
Just remember, it had to leak out somewhere, and that adding fluid without fixing the problem is just a temporary solution. The leak can get worse over time and lead to brake failure.
Pressure Differential Switch
Your brake system is divided into two circuits. These circuits cut the brake system in two. That way, if the brake system gets a leak or fails, you still have brakes on half of your Armada’s wheels.
The pressure differential switch measures the difference in pressure between the two circuits and will report that there is a difference by turning on your Armada’s brake warning light. In most vehicles this switch is located in the master cylinder. You’ll see a harness plug in somewhere around there.
Check the Brake Lights
Some vehicles will now activate the brake warning light on the dash if the actual brake lights behind it go bad. Check to see that both of them are lighting up. If not, try replacing the bulb and see if that solves the problem.
How to Turn off Your Armada’s Brake Light
The only way to turn the brake light off is to restore proper line pressure to both brake circuits when the pedal is pushed. If your Armada is having trouble stopping, or noticeably leaking fluid, don’t drive it. Just have it towed to a mechanic. If you mess up fixing your engine, the vehicle does not move. If you mess up fixing the brakes, it doesn’t stop. That’s infinitely more dangerous.
If your Nissan Armada’s brake warning light is on, and you’ve checked the emergency brake, you’ll need to look for a leak in the lines, calipers, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, etc. Good luck diagnosing the issue. If there is anything that you would like to add, please leave a comment below.

1 Brake Light On problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 06/28/2021
While driving applying brakes and without waring except when it anitially happens brake light comes on and brake pedal kickback and cannot stop car with in a timely manner almost causing a rear end collision. Finally get car stopped and shutting off and back on again every thing is normal with braking . Had a code pulled for a c1179. I know of TSB ntb06-040 but should be considered a saftey recall.

Failure Date: 04/26/2021
While vehicle is in motion during highway travel and city travel brake light on the control panel will come randomly come on. When applying brakes after light has illuminated there will be severe vibration and grinding when you press the brakes. This behavior in the vehicle will continue until the ignition has been turned off and then restarted which seems to reset the brakes, discontinue the light and resumes normal operation. On several occasions the light has come on while vehicle is parked but still running. This has happened many times.

3 Brake Light On problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 01/28/2021
Traveling on highway at 65 mph near my offramp when brake light came on the dash again. This has happened several times in the past few months and it doesn't get driven on a regular basis as it is our 3rd vehicle. As I approached the ramp with brakes even lightly depressed the brakes chattered and felt week. Had to stop on the ramp, shut the engine off and restart so I could continue. At least this time I knew what to do to make go away at least temporarily. We have to always make sure we have plenty of extra space in front of us so we time to react if it happens again. I just hope it doesn't happen in an emergency situation. Also had an incident while towing a small utility trailer early in 2020 when it happened and it was much more extreme and I was afraid I would not be able to stop it at the upcoming stop sign. Nissan needs to figure out what is causing this and fix it at their cost. If it can be rest by just turning the key off someone should be able to figure this out. My understanding from the forums I have red that the dealers just take your money to replace parts that don't fix the problem. There was even on who said they replaced almost all brake related parts and it still did it.
4 Brake Light On problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 11/04/2020
This problem has happened numerous times at various speeds from 10mph to 70mph. While driving on city streets and freeways and need to come to a stop the brake light, vdc off light, and slip light came on. When brakes applied, very loud grinding/clunking metal noise happened and brakes would not engage only at about 10% of brakes working it seems. I stop turn off the car and start it back up and it seems to reset. This cannot happen as I almost got into numerous collisions because of this abs brake malfunction !! doing research on this problem from other Armada owners forums this problem happens quiet frequently. Some owners came to the conclusion that its a faulty delta sensor in the brake booster. Nissan must recall this problem ASAP!!.
5 Brake Light On problem of the 2006 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 09/22/2020
I was traveling at low speed and step on the brakes and hear a terrible grinding sound coming from the brakes in addition to a spring like sound and a significant reduction in braking power. The brake lights came on. This continues until I pull off the road and shut off the engine and then start it back up and the brakes work fine. The next day, while exiting the highway. . . Brake light came on, little or no braking power and a shudder in the breaks. And then it happened again as I pull up to the driveway to park my Armada. This is a safety issue and I really hope that Nissan will take care of this issue.

6 Brake Light On problem of the 2005 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 08/06/2020
This is a major safety issue! the brake light on the control panel comes on and when stepping on the brakes, the car hardly brakes. It feels like the brakes are grinding and skidding. I have to carefully pull the car over and turn the car off and back on. Lately this has been happening around once a week.

7 Brake Light On problem of the 2012 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 06/16/2020
The brake light and slip indicator turn on and the brakes do not work. There is nothing in the manual that explains what this means other than potentially low brake fluid. We checked the brake fluid level and it was halfway, we filled it up and the issue did not go away even after driving it. When you turn the vehicle off and start it back up the brake light turns off leaving only the slip indicator on but no explanation as to wha the issues are regarding both systems. After carefully testing the system we found that the brakes are in fact failing and the vehicle is not stopping.

8 Brake Light On problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 02/03/2020
Several times when driving my brake light will come on along the brake does not engage. When you press on the pedal you hear a loud grinding sound similar to springs being ejected from the car. It does not slow down the vehicle at all and the grinding is loud and seems to be damaging internal parts. When you turn the engine off, and restart it the problem goes away. I took it to the Nissan dealership in fremont CA. They advised to change the brake pads and rotors. Which I elected to do and cost me a lot of money. Immediately after leaving the dealership it happened again. I called the next day for they were closed. They said that they didn't see any errors on their reader and cannot replace parts when there are nothing showing. I insisted to take it in and the mechanic suggested I clean the battery or get a new battery which I did. The problem stoped for a month until it happened again while driving 50mph down a windy road. It nearly killed me! the closest description I have of the problem is explained on this youtube video I found https://youtu. Be/jvcrd2lxti8.
9 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 12/15/2019
The brake light on the control panel lights up and when stepping on the brake pedal the vehicle does not brake, instead is feels like it's skidding. When this happens I have to slowly try to pull over and come to a stop to then turn the vehicle off. When I restart the vehicle is it usually starts performing normally again and the brakes work fine. This is a huge safety concern for me due to the fact that I never know when this is going to happen again. What if it happens while I need to come to a quick emergency stop?! thankfully I am a safe driver and always drive within the speed limits which helps me bring the vehicle to a stop quicker.
10 Brake Light On problem of the 2005 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 11/27/2019
Driving in traffic causes brakes to lock as if the parking brakes were set. I have to pull over safely to the side of the road and place the vehicle in park, press on the parking foot brake to engage and disengage the brakes, turn off and on the vehicle to "reset" the brakes. It happened a few times especially on the freeway. In all multiple occasions nearly rear ending the vehicle in front of me especially when I have my family with me in the vehicle. When this occurs the brake light comes on, on the dash. Happens on both the freeway and the city streets in motion and once when the brakes was press in traffic.
11 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 10/26/2019
While driving the brake light will illuminate and the brakes will fail while being pressed. When the the light comes on the brake booster fails to operate and the while will not stop. There was a lawsuit filed against Nissan back in 2014 for a delta stoke sensor which is what Nissan calls the brake booster. When I looked up my vehicle with Nissan no recall was issued yet my vehicle falls within the same year. This is a major safety concern that needs to be looked into.
12 Brake Light On problem of the 2004 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 10/07/2019
Note that this vehicle was purchased used about 2 years ago without any service history from the previous owner. However I was able to confirm no outstanding recalls open on the VIN. While traveling home (45mph) I observed the brake light illuminate on the dashboard and noticed the brakes were malfunctioning. When attempting to depress the brake pedal the abs/brakes appeared to make grinding/metallic noises and the brake pedal would vibrate and go to the floor. I thought that a brake line or fluid issue may have occurred, but when I stopped the vehicle and turned off the ignition I did not see any visual issues. Then upon restarting the vehicle the issue was no longer present. When I researched this issue I found hundreds of complaints about Nissan brakes having similar issues and found a service bulletin ntb06-040. Pdf regarding the issue. Upon using a scantool to read the vehicle codes I was able to confirm that dtc c1179 was present and that this issue was related to the service bulletin. The service bulletin indicates a software update addresses the issue. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs and they indicated Nissan would not be able to assist due to the age of the vehicle. I am concerned about the number of complaints I am seeing online (clubarmada, Nissanhelp, etc) regaing this issue and feel that if a software update is needed to resolve than there is either 1) a software bug (which needs a recall) or 2) a defective sensor (delta sensor) that the software update chooses to ignore or diminish. Either way a random brake malfunction that can "fix" itself upon reboot (restarting the vehicle) seems suspicious and should be investigated.

While driving the car will slow down and I will notice the brake light is on. Then I will hear like a grinding sound. As if im driving with emergency brakes on. The parking brakes engage while im driving. We took car to a Nissan dealer for servicing but they could not detect any problem. There is certainly a problem with braking system. I am afraid this will cause an accident. It has happened about 7 times in the last 2 weeks. We just got new brakes on oct. 5 2019. This problem a few years ago and it will happen a few times a year but lately its happening more often. It staryed back on or about oct. 1, 2019.

Its happened 3 times since I've had car used and I've only had it 6 months. Luckily no one was around and I was able to pull over. Turned off the car and it was gone on all occasions. I am very scared to drive my children and grandchild around this is very scary and could cause injury or even death if on a winding road in snow or rain. I don't know what to do I cant afford new car.

Randomly the truck would not stop as I try and apply the brakes , its as is I push petal to the floor and you hear a bad grinding a bad vibration and feels as if the truck is about to drop a mechanical piece from underneath the front end . As I come to a long and rolling stop the brake light turns on,, I try and pump the brake petal and it seems as if its disconnected from the cable, so I turn the truck off wait a minute and turn it back on. . . Now this has happened about 5,6 times the past time my wife and 3 boys where in the vehicle. . Ive done research and been on many forums and know this is a big issue and very dangerous, as we are now extremely nervous to drive the vehicle especially on the expressway . . . Please at least honor the repairs as I can take it to a Nissan by me and have it fixed. I love the truck and have put a lot of money to modifying it and its very dependable. But no vehicle will be safe if brakes randomly go out. . . Its bound to be a very bad outcome and we dont want to be a statistic,,,please help us. . This is my second time with brake failure due to a faulty brake booster. The first time in 2011 and now in 2018. Brake light comes on and grinding noise with very little brake pressure. Taken to dealership brake booster replaced $982. My question is did they replace defective parts with upgrade. It is a well known issue that to me Nissan is ignoring till there is a fatal accident. Dealer states delta sensor faulty.
27 Brake Light On problem of the 2006 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 08/26/2018
My husband purchased an 06 Nissan Armada. While he was driving on the freeway he went to slow down and the brake light came on and the pedal went to the floor and made a weird grinding noise. He pulled over and shut the vehicle off. Was waiting for a tow truck to arrive. After he restarted it, it drove fine. Took it to Nissan themselves and they found nothing but recommended a brake booster. This has happened multiple times to us. Again just recently, I was with my daughter in the vehicle and had to run through a red light because I was unable to stop. The emergency brake light came on but the brake was not engaged. There was a loud grinding noise as if I needed rotors. I let the vehicle slow down and I pulled over in a safe area and shut the vehicle off. After restarting it after 5 mins the vehicle drove fine. I had my father hook his code reader up and we came up with a code c1179 which is a delta stroke sensor. Researched the code and found that Nissan had multiple lawsuits for this issue but never issued a recall for it. I contacted Nissan themselves about this issue and the gentleman that I spoke to at Nissan told me that since my vehicle was not built in a certain factory they would not fix the issue and that his suggestion was that if I had a good repoire with the Nissan dealership close to me they may be able to help me with the cost. The lawsuit never specified a certain factory the vehicles came out of. It stated 2004-2008 Nissan titan and Armada or infinity qx56. I could not believe that Nissan is aware of this issue, has been sued not once but multiple times and is still refusing to deal with the issue.

My vehicle is having a complete brake failure. This is happened numerous times since I purchased my vehicle. I called the dealership and there is no recalls on this issue. As I'm driving my brake light comes on and I lose all control of breaking. This has happened numerous times while I've been on 95 with my two kids in the car. I've had my brakes and rotors replaced thinking that was the issue and it happened again when I was on 95 I lose all control of stopping the brake light comes on and I cannot stop my vehicle. I looked up this issue online and there are so many other people having this issue. I hope this gets resolved because I will never buy a Nissan vehicle ever again.

At random times, usually when transmission in drive, the brake light displays on the dash and immediately the brakes do not work appropriately. The brake pedal sinks to the floor when depressed while making a loud groaning/grinding sound. The brakes fail. I have to stop the car by pumping the brake pedal, turning off the motor and then once auto restarts the problem is gone until next time. Very dangerous. At higher speeds could cause serious accident with injury or death. Happened several times on expressway. Happened in parking lots and on side streets. Frightening situation. Dealers act ignorant about this problem even tho this seems to be a common complaint with this vehicle. I understand it is the abs booster that needs to be replaced. Others said it is the computer. I spent 4 hours 2 wks ago at dealer who "found nothing. " yet the situation has increased fron a few times a year to 3 times this week.

Started having a issue with my brakes on my Nissan Armada. When you pressed on the brakes, they would go to the floor and would not work and the brake light would go on. After pulling over and turning the vehicle off and back on the brake light would go off and the brakes would work again. I googled the problem and found that Nissan knew about this issue and settled a class action law suit regarding it. I took the vehicle to the dealership and it was the delta stroke sensor. Nissan knew there was a problem but has not recalled the vehicles. In fact this problem is not limited to the Armada. My family and I could have been killed because of this issue including others that were on the road when the brakes went out. Https://topclassactions. Issue with abs engaging at inappropriate times at low speeds creating an inability to brake. My wife drove through a stop sign with all 4 of my kids the first time it happened and lucked out. It just happened again today. At a speed of only 4 miles per hour, I noticed the brake light came on, I drove through the green light, only accelerating enough to get to a side road. When I tried to brake, there was a crunching/grinding noise from under the hood. After the first time this occurred to my wife, I replaced the brake booster (hell of a job) and I installed new rotors and pads all the way around as the brake booster was told to be the issue after Nissan was sued for the problem as it grew. It still never became a TSB and I have a half ton death trap in my driveway.

Intermittently, and for no apparent reason, the brake light comes on while the car is in motion. This causes greatly diminished braking power (it feels like a vacuum has released and it is very difficult to stop). The only way to rectify this is to stop and turn the car off completely and then restart it. This is ok on city streets but is very scary on the highway. I have had a Nissan dealer look at it multiple times but since the car checks out mechanically and they cannot recreate the situation, they can't figure out why this happens.

Two times in the past 2 months I have experienced while driving, my brake light lighting up and my brakes failing. My pedal would go down farther, grinding noises could be heard, and it was very hard to stop my vehicle. I pulled over as carefully as possible, stopped slowly, and turned my engine off. I then restarted and everything was fine, no brake light, no noise, no issue pushing the brake pedal. I didn't think much about it until it happened again. I know Nissan will not do anything about it because the brake light is off and it is not an issue right now. I know they are also aware of this problem with my make, model, and year of car and they settled a class action lawsuit out of court that I was not involved in because I didn't have the problem at that point. Both times it happened while traveling on city streets, once I was going about 35mph the other about 45mph. I am more than afraid because we do occasionally travel on mountain roads and I have no idea how I would handle this situation if it happened while driving downhill.

On the date of July 12, 2017 I was on the freeway on my way to work. Traffic was moderate. As I attempted to brake I noticed it made springy grinding sound, and the brakes did not function as well. I also noticed that the red brake light indicator was on. In a safe and desperate manner, I immediately pulled over to shoulder and put my vehicle on park. After I placed my vehicle on park, I turned it off and turned off, then I turned it back on. Once I turned it back on, I noticed that the brake light was no longer on and the brakes were working fine. On July 13, 2017, while traveling with my wife and kids to disneyland, I experienced the same incident again. As I attempted to brake, the brakes made a loud springy grinding sound. In addition the brakes did not function as well and the brake light was on. This time I was not able to pull over to shoulder due to heavy traffic. I had to activate my emergency lights and turn off and turn on my vehicle in the middle lane. Please adhere to this major safety concern immediately. Thank you.

While driving on the highway my brake light came on. When I exited the highway I tried to apply my brakes I had very little brakes. There was a loud noise coming from the front of my vehicle when I tried to brake. I finally got the vehicle to stop in a safe location, turned the car off, restarted the vehicle, the problem went awake. This recently happened again on the city street. I pulled off of the street, turned off the vehicle the problem went away. I really fear for my life because I barely have any brakes when this happens. The brake petal is pushed all the way to the floor before the vehicle can stop. This happens periodically.

While driving my Nissan Armada it goes thru a complete loss of brakes when all of a sudden the brake light sensor comes on. It seems to happen in cycles like every month or so but when the car is turned off and then on again the problem disappears, until the next time. This is a definite manufacturing malfunction as many people have blogged about the same issue. Many have claimed it's an abs or booster brake issue but there is no way to tell. A recall is necessary before a major tragedy occurs.

While transmission is in drive, and proceeding down the road, has happen at speeds between 10mph up to 70mph. The emergency brake light on the dashboard goes on. Within 5-10 seconds hearing a grinding sound coming from the front of the car, sounds like coming from breaks in addition to a spring like sound and a reduction of breaking power. This continues until you pull off the road, and turn off the car and turn it back on. Once the car is reset it appears to fix the problems. I purchased the car at with approximately 69k miles on it, it currently has roughly 114k miles on it and has happen approximately 3 times since 95k miles. I have taken the vehicle to a dealership and have explained the issue. They advised they have heard of this, but there is no recall for the VIN number on my Armada. That this would require a technician to provide a software update. This should be able to fix the problem, but not guarantee. Approximately take 1-2 hours for a technician to do this and I would be responsible to pay. Spoke to Nissan USA and they view the software upgrade as regular service maintenance. This issue has seemed to be common in Armada's from 2004 to 2008, based on what has been listed on several forums. . Read more...

I am having issues with my brake light that keeps coming on while I am driving. And when I hit the brakes my truck jerks badly, my brake light comes on, my brake pedal vibrates while stopping. I was told I need my brake booster replaced which was done and I am still having the same issues. I was told by the mechanic the code c1179 is the issues. The code is Nissan - delta stroke sensor malfunctioning which only Nissan can fix the problem (and there is a service bulletin for this issues as well). What needs to happen for Nissan to address this issue that is going on with several trucks. I don't like the feeling of driving and cannot stop or feel as if I am going to hit someone I have children and I don't want to get into an accident with them or anyone else within the truck because of this issue. If there is a service bulletin about this code c1179 why is Nissan not being held responsible for the issues and cost? I have fixed everything that is causing the issue and now I have to have my truck reprogrammed which is costing me more. This issue has been going on for more than 8 months and it is now 11/2017.

Doesn't matter the speed of the vehicle, brakes tend to press to the floor, grinding noise and the only way to stop this is to pull over the vehicle, turn off the ignition and restart it. It randomly happens, but I am very concerned that if and when I tow or am on the highway, I don't won't my brakes to not work. Could kill me. . . I have had an issue with brakes and lights coming on that says vdo ,antilock etc: when driving the SUV at lower speeds and you try to apply the brakes the whole front end starts shaking and grinding and it is impossible to stop. I have replaced brakes, rotors , wheel hub bearings and still have this problem. It is scary when you can't stop a 7,000lb vehicle! I am in fear of an accident . I have read of others having the same problem. Sometimes when running hyw speeds a lot of lights come on and dingers and this has been happening since I bought the Armada. I want to know what Nissan is gonna do about this problem cause it seems I am not the only one having these issues. By the way this is going on since I purchased the vehicle back on 10/2006.

While attempting to stop, without warning the brake light comes on and the brake pedal basically goes to the floor and barely works to stop the truck. The brakes grind as it is pushed. If you turn the vehicle off it seems to reset itself. We almost hit someone today trying to stop at a red light. The vehicle was moving at roughly 15-20 mph when the issue started (today). We were on a city street, braking to stop. It seems to be a consistent problem with these vehicles and I am boggled at the fact that no one is requiring Nissan to take any responsibility. Eventually someone is going to get very hurt. Having little to no control over your braking is very scary, especially with my little one in the truck with me . This is a large vehicle and would do a lot of damage if it were to hit someone the next time this happens. This seems to happen once every 2-4 weeks or so. It appears to be random.

While driving on the road at slow normal speed the brake pedal went to floor no braking available with kids in my car this is a known problem with Nissan Armada brake debooster valve equipped with delta sensor . Safety issue that needs to be a recall to resolve this problem. During this no braking the abs light illuminates and slip warning and brake warning light illuminates the only way to resolve this is by safely pulling over and turning the ignition off which then might resolve this problem. Took my car to the dealership they exactly know what the problem is they got the code c1179 which clearly outlines a bad delta sensor within the brake debooster valve . I believe Nissan has know this problem and has not yet made a recall o this issue will like the transport safety board look into this electrical, software , mechanical problem before it's too late whereby innocent lives could be lost . There needs to be a safety recall . The dealership also wants to charge for the software upgrade and yet said this might not fix the problem but if it happens again then the brake debooster valve would have to be replaced , I am shocked to know that they know it's a safety issue but yet tend to ignore this problem frustrated consumer .
69 Brake Light On problem of the 2006 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 10/27/2015
I was driving my kids to school and as I approached a stop sign, I noticed my brake light, vdc light and slip light came on. When I pressed on my brakes it made a grinding sound and would not come to a complete stop. I had to jerk my car into neutral and then try to put it into park. When I pressed my brake pad it went all the way down to the ground and then I was able to put my car into park. This all happened while driving in the flow of traffic pulled over and parked, I turned my car off, when I restarted my car the light were off and I drove on my way.
70 Brake Light On problem of the 2006 Nissan Armada
Failure Date: 10/20/2015
I have had this happen multiple times. I am driving and the brake light goes on on the dash. When I attempt to apply the brakes the whole car shakes and makes a loud noise. The car barely slows. Eventually if I get the car stopped and I restart it the problem goes away. No one has been able to find out what the issue is but it happens to a lot of Armada owners. It's terrifying. It usually happens if I am driving, then turn the car of and then on again within a few minutes. The brakes will fail and I can only get them to work correctly if I restart the car.
